How many bitcoins exist in the world today, counted one by one. New coins are created every time miners add a block, so this line only ever goes up — and it slows down every four years.
The running total of every bitcoin ever created, from the first one in 2009 to the newest one mined a few minutes ago. Bitcoin's rules cap this at 21 million coins, forever.
This line **only ever rises**, and it flattens a little more every four years because the reward miners get per block is cut in half. For example, if it reads 19.9 million, then 19.9 of the eventual 21 million bitcoins already exist — about 95% — so **only** around 1.1 million coins are left to be mined over the next hundred years.
It tells you how scarce the supply is; it says nothing about price.

It counts coins that exist, not coins people can actually use — an estimated 3 to 4 million sit in wallets whose keys were lost years ago and can **never** move again. One value per calendar day, so there is no hour-by-hour view.
