How many bitcoins are worth less today than the price they last changed hands at — coins sitting at a loss.
Every coin carries the price it last moved at. This adds up all the coins whose last-moved price is **above** today's price, so whoever holds them is underwater.
It would spike during crashes when a large share of coins are held at a loss — those spikes have lined up with past cycle bottoms — and sit near zero in strong rallies. For example, 5 million ₿ at a loss out of 19.9 million would mean about a quarter of all coins are underwater.
In words: add up every bitcoin whose last-moved price sits **above** today's price — the same as all coins in circulation minus the coins in profit.
This chart has no line yet. The outside feed that used to supply it was switched off for good, and **our own Bitcoin node** is still recounting the record from the very first block, so there is nothing honest to draw.
