BTC Coin Days Destroyed (CDD): 237.8K
Shows whether the coins moving today had been sitting still for years or only for days. Big spikes mean long-dormant coins woke up. Every point shown is real up to the date on the badge above the chart.
Every bitcoin earns one 'coin day' for each day it sits unmoved. The moment it moves, all those stored-up coin days are wiped out.
This chart adds up the coin days wiped out each day, so a coin that sat untouched for five years counts far more heavily than one that moved yesterday.
A quiet line means the day's movement was mostly recent coins changing hands. A tall spike means somebody moved coins that had not budged for years โ the kind of owner who normally does nothing.
For example, 20 million coin days wiped out in one day is roughly 20,000 โฟ that had sat untouched for about three years suddenly moving. Repeated spikes during a price rally have historically meant long-time owners were selling into the strength.
In words: for every coin that moved today, multiply the number of coins by the number of days since they last moved, then add all of that up across the day. Computed in-house from our own Bitcoin node's realized cap โ the value of every coin at the price it last moved at, which can only be obtained by reading the whole chain.
Every point on screen is real and complete up to the date on the badge **above** the chart. The outside feed that supplied them is switched off for good; our own Bitcoin node โ a full copy of the blockchain that we run ourselves โ is recounting this series from the very first block, and new points resume once that finishes. Someone moving coins between their own wallets wipes out just as many coin days as a real sale, so a spike proves movement, not selling. Alert zones: the two dashed lines are measured percentiles of this exact stored series โ 46,958,636 coin-days is the 97.5th percentile and 69,594,738 the 99th, taken over the 1,470 daily points we hold for 2022-07-14 โ 2026-07-22 (1,265 of them counted by our own node, 205 from the retired outside feed).
Across that window the pair produced 70 band changes, about 17 a year. Neither line is a round number and neither is a forecast: they say **only** that a day sits in the top 2.5% or the top 1% of coin-day destruction we have on record. The heaviest days measured were 2024-05-28, 2025-07-04 and 2025-11-22. When the genesis recount finishes it will extend this series back to 2009, and both levels must then be re-derived from the longer history.
bitcoin-data.com (BGeometrics) supplied every point on this chart, and each one is real up to the snapshot date shown. Safu switched that feed off for good because its licence does not let us republish the data, so no newer days and no older days will arrive from it โ no paid key and no purchased history are planned. Safu's own Bitcoin node is re-reading the blockchain from 2009 to rebuild this history. Feed no longer used.
