BTC Total Fees: 3.41
All the fees people paid that day to get their bitcoin transactions confirmed, added together and counted in bitcoin. High fees mean the network is crowded.
The total amount users paid that day, on top of whatever they were sending, to get their transactions into a block. Measured in bitcoin, not dollars.
Fees rise when more people want to transact than there is room in the blocks, and fall when things are quiet. For example, if the daily total jumps from 8 โฟ to 45 โฟ, the network is jammed and an ordinary payment that cost about a dollar now costs several.
It also matters to miners: fees are the one part of their income that **is not** cut in half every four years.
Taken as blockchain.info publishes it: the sum of all transaction fees paid inside that day's blocks, in bitcoin.
It is a whole-day total, so it **cannot** tell you what a single transaction cost โ a busy day of many cheap payments looks the same as a quiet day of a few expensive ones. One value per calendar day.
