BTC Active Wallets
How many separate Bitcoin wallets moved coins each day, smoothed over 7 days. The line's colour is the value itself โ cool where activity is low, warm where it runs hot โ so you can see a busy period at a glance without reading the axis.
The number of distinct Bitcoin addresses that sent or received coins on a given day, averaged over the last 7 days. It counts WALLETS, not money โ a 0.001 โฟ move and a 5,000 โฟ move each count as one.
Rising means more addresses were active on the network; **falling** means fewer. For example, a drop from 900K to 450K over a year says the crowd halved even if price held โ fewer hands are doing the same work.
The colour band has changed 65 times since 2010, about 4 times a year, five calendar years produced no change at all, and the last change was 617 days ago. It measures how busy the network is, not where price goes next.
For each day, take the count of active addresses, then average it with the previous 6 days. The line is coloured by where that value sits between the lowest and highest reading on screen.
One person can own many wallets and one wallet can serve many people, so this is a measure of activity, not of users. It **cannot** tell you WHY wallets were active, and it **does not** show whether coins moved toward exchanges โ that needs exchange address attribution we do not have yet.
