How many different Bitcoin addresses sent or received coins each day — a rough headcount of how busy the network is.

The number of separate addresses that took part in at least one confirmed transaction that day, as sender or receiver. An address is like an account number written into the blockchain.

Rising across weeks means more people and services are using Bitcoin; **falling** means things have gone quiet. For example, a climb from 700,000 to 950,000 active addresses a day over a few months is a real jump in usage, and in past cycles that kind of rise has come before the price moved.

Treat it as a busy-ness gauge, not a headcount of humans.

Blockchain.com’s count of distinct addresses used in confirmed transactions each UTC day. Existing legacy history is preserved; missing later days use the provider’s daily gateway observations.

Addresses are not people. Exchanges move thousands of customers through a handful of addresses, while an ordinary wallet creates a brand-new address for every payment, so the number is **only** a rough stand-in for real users. The gateway revises some historical counts slightly; checked overlap days differed by one address. We do not offset the new counts to hide that boundary. The incomplete first day of a gateway request and the current UTC day are excluded.
