BTC Active Address Momentum: 1.000
Compares how busy the Bitcoin network has been over the last month against its own average over the last year. Above 1.0 means recent activity is running hotter than normal.
The average number of active addresses per day over the last 30 days, divided by the same average over the last 365 days. It answers: is the network busier right now than it has been across the past year?
For example, 1.20 means the last month has been 20% busier than a typical day of the past year β real usage is picking up. 0.85 means activity has cooled to 15% **below** the yearly norm.
Around 1.0 is ordinary and tells you nothing. In past cycles, long stretches **above** 1.0 came alongside rising prices, though usage and price can drift apart for months at a time.
In words: average the daily active-address count over the last 30 days, then divide that by the average over the last 365 days. The first meaningful point appears about a year after the history starts, because a 365-day average needs a full year to exist.
Active-address counts are blockchain.info's estimate of unique addresses; address reuse and exchanges batching customers mean it stands in for user numbers rather than counting them. The colour scale on the chart runs from 0.75 to 1.35.
