BTC 1458-Day (4Y) MA Heatmap: $79,676.63
Bitcoin's price coloured by how far it sits above its four-year average price โ the centre of gravity of a whole halving cycle. Cold colours near or below that average marked the quiet years; hot colours far above it, the late excited phase.
The line underneath is the average closing price of the last 1,458 days, which is one full four-year halving cycle. Each price dot **above** is coloured by how many times that average today's price is.
For example, a cold blue dot means the price is close to or **below** its four-year average โ every long, boring stretch between cycles looks like this, and those were the cheapest periods to buy. A hot red dot means the price is many times its four-year average, which has **only** happened in the final months before past peaks.
The colour scale is fixed from 0.7 times to 16 times the average, so a colour means the same thing in every era.
In words: average the last 1,458 daily closing prices, then colour each price dot by the price divided by that average, on a fixed scale running from 0.7 to 16 times.
Before mid-2014 there are not yet 1,458 days of price history, so the average uses every day available up to that point โ without that, the whole 2011 to 2013 cycle would be missing from this chart.
