BTC Shrimp Addresses (<1 BTC): 55.89M
How many separate addresses hold less than 1 โฟ โ by far the largest group. A count of addresses, not people.
The number of addresses whose current balance is **below** 1 โฟ, counted fresh each day.
This is the widest measure of small-scale ownership and it grows almost continuously. For example, a rise from 52 million to 55 million addresses over a year suggests many new small wallets appeared โ but an ordinary wallet app creates a fresh address for every single payment, so the count climbs even without new users.
Read the direction over months and **never** treat the number as a headcount of people.
Each day **our own Bitcoin node** counts every address holding less than 1 โฟ.
It counts addresses, not people, and it is heavily padded by near-worthless leftovers worth a few cents and by the many small addresses exchanges use internally, so the level means little and **only** the trend is useful. Our node currently shows history from 2023 and fills in earlier years as it finishes recounting the blockchain from the first block.
