BTC Coins on Exchanges (โฟ): 872.8K
How much bitcoin is sitting on exchange wallets we can name and link to a public source. Coins on an exchange can be sold within seconds; coins in someone's own wallet cannot. A falling line means people are moving coins off exchanges and into their own keeping. One reading per day, starting 18 August 2026 โ there is no earlier history for this line.
The total amount of bitcoin (โฟ) held by a published list of exchange wallet addresses. Every address on that list carries a public source link you can open yourself โ an exchange's own proof-of-reserves page, or an official announcement.
Addresses we could not source are left out on purpose, so this is a large **sample** of exchange holdings, never every exchange wallet in existence.
**Falling** means coins are leaving exchanges for private wallets, which takes them out of instant selling range. **Rising** means coins are being moved onto exchanges, which is often โ but not always โ a step before selling.
For example, on 4 September 2026 the exchange wallets we track held **873,231 โฟ**, and over the day before that the total fell by about 864 โฟ โ roughly one tenth of one percent of the pile. A day that small is ordinary.
**The direction over weeks is what matters, not any single day.**
Once a day **our own Bitcoin node** writes out its complete list of unspent coins (the UTXO set) and adds up every coin sitting on an address from the attested list. Nothing is estimated and nothing is scaled up to guess at the wallets we **cannot** see.
The number is stored **only** after a sanity check compares it with the previous stored day; a move beyond the tolerance stops the load and is reported to a human instead.
**The line starts on 18 August 2026.** That is the first day this snapshot was stored, and no earlier reading of this measure exists โ not here, and not with anyone we could buy it from. Reaching back to 2009 would mean re-reading the whole chain on our own node; that replay has not been run, and nothing on this page promises it.
Attested exchange addresses **only** โ a large sample, not every exchange wallet in existence, so the level is a floor rather than the true industry total. Coinbase and Kraken publish no usable address list and are absent.
Exchanges also shuffle coins between their own wallets, which can look like a flow when nothing actually left the company. A coin arriving at an exchange **is not** proof that anyone sold it.
