How many US dollars a miner earns per day for each unit of computing power they run. This is the number every mining business lives by.
Miners' total daily income in dollars divided by the network's total computing power. The result is dollars per terahash per second per day โ what one trillion guesses a second earns its owner in 24 hours.
A **falling** hash price means every machine earns less each day, which squeezes miners with expensive electricity until they switch off. A **rising** one pays for new machines.
For example, at $0.045 per TH/s per day, a modern machine rated at 200 TH/s earns about $9 a day before electricity โ if its power costs $6 a day, the margin is thin and a further fall pushes it offline.
In words: miners' daily dollar income โ new coins plus fees, valued at that day's price โ divided by the network's total computing power that day.
It assumes a steady 144 blocks a day rather than the real count, and fees missing in a few early years count as zero; together these shift the number by well under 2%. It is revenue per machine, not profit โ electricity and hardware are not deducted.
