BTC Future Supply: 20.92M
How the remaining bitcoin will be created between now and 2040, step by step at each halving. This part of Bitcoin is fixed in advance, so the future half of this chart is arithmetic rather than a forecast.
A drawing of Bitcoin's coin-creation schedule: how many coins exist today, and how many will exist on each future date under the halving rules written into the software.
The near-flat curve is **the whole point**. For example, with about 19.9 million of the eventual 21 million coins already mined, roughly 95% of all bitcoin that will ever exist already does โ and the last 5% takes more than a hundred years to arrive.
The steep part of this chart is the past. The forward part is calculated from published rules, so it is **only** wrong if those rules change.
In words: start from the coins mined so far, then keep adding the fixed reward per block times about 144 blocks a day, halving that reward on schedule roughly every four years out to 2040.
It assumes blocks keep arriving at the normal 10-minute pace, which drifts slightly in practice. It shows supply **only**, and supply on its own has **never** set a price.
