BTC Fear & Greed Index: 73
A 0 to 100 score of how the crypto crowd is feeling today. Zero is blind panic, 100 is euphoria.
A daily mood score for the crypto market, from 0 (everyone is scared) to 100 (everyone is excited), published once a day by alternative.me.
For example, a reading of 15 means extreme fear and 85 means extreme greed. It can sit at an extreme far longer than feels reasonable, and it moves constantly: the band has changed 686 times since February 2018, about 81 a year and typically two days apart. The band names are alternative.me's own published labels, not thresholds we fitted.
It measures mood, not price. Context **only**, **never** a reason to buy or sell.
Published daily by alternative.me and shown here unchanged. They build it from how much the price is swinging, how much is traded, social-media chatter, Google searches and Bitcoin's share of the whole crypto market.
The index itself **only** starts a few years into Bitcoin's history, so the longest range shows everything that exists rather than all of Bitcoin's past. One value per day, so a mood swing within a day **never** appears.
