BTC STRC Dividend Rate: 12.00%
STRC is the Strategy preferred share whose dividend Strategy resets itself, aiming to keep its price near $100. The grey steps are the rate it set, as a % of $100 a year: 9% at launch in July 2025, raised step by step to 12%. The orange line is the same dividend as a % of each day's closing price. Orange above grey = STRC sold for less than $100.
**STRC ("Stretch")** is a preferred share sold by Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) on Nasdaq since 29 July 2025. Each share has a **$100 stated amount**. Unlike Strategy's other preferred shares, its dividend is not fixed: **Strategy sets the rate for each dividend period** โ monthly until June 2026, twice a month since โ as a % of $100 a year. Strategy says it moves the rate to keep STRC trading near $100 ("$99โ$100" in its filings): more pay when the price is low, less when it is high.
The grey steps are those rates. The orange line is the same dividend divided by each day's **closing price**: what someone paying that price collects per year, if the rate stays.
**Orange above grey** means STRC traded below $100: the same dividend is a bigger slice of a smaller price. **Orange under grey** means it traded above $100. The two lines touch at exactly $100.
**Watch the steps follow the gap.** From September 2025 Strategy raised the rate by a quarter point almost every month, from 10% to 11.50% by March 2026, while the price sat under $100. When the price fell hard in June 2026, it raised the rate to 12% and started buying STRC back.
*For example:* on 26 June 2026 STRC closed at $74.57. The rate was 11.50% of $100 โ $11.50 a year โ so someone paying $74.57 collected **15.42% a year**. Three days later Strategy announced 12%.
**Grey:** the rate Strategy announced for the dividend period that contains the day, copied from its SEC 8-K filings (list in "How it's built" sources). **Orange = grey ร $100 รท that day's closing price.**
We also check every rate against the dividend STRC actually paid: twice a month, $X per share is X ร 24 % a year (monthly: X ร 12). All 16 dividends from September 2025 to September 2026 matched the filings. After the last period a filing covers, the newest rate is kept until that period's dividend is paid, and those days are marked as not yet confirmed.
Closing prices: one per US trading day, compared with Nasdaq's own history on 26 September 2026 (every day matched to the cent). On weekends and US market holidays the last close is carried forward and the day is marked as closed, so each range button covers exactly the calendar days it names.
**The rate is a decision, not a market price.** Strategy can raise it, keep it or lower it (within limits in STRC's terms); a dividend is paid only when its board declares it. STRC's dividends are *cumulative*: a skipped one is still owed later.
**The orange line is not a return.** It leaves out price changes after the day, taxes and fees.
**Coming change:** Strategy has asked shareholders to vote (expected 28 October 2026) on paying STRC's dividend every day from 2 November 2026. The rate would stay the same, but a daily payment does not tell us the rate on its own, so until a filing states the new rate we keep the last one and mark those days as not yet confirmed.
