BTC OI vs Funding: 0.0028%
Two things on one chart: how much money is riding on open bitcoin bets (the line) and which side of those bets is paying the fee (the bars). Together they show when the betting crowd is both large and lopsided.
The line is the total dollar value of bitcoin bets that are open and not yet closed. The bars are the fee that the more crowded side of those bets pays the other side every eight hours.
The combination is the point. For example, a line climbing from $30 billion to $40 billion while the bars stay **green** at +0.05% means a big and growing crowd is betting on a rise and paying to keep those bets open โ historically the setup before a sharp shakeout, because bets like that tend to get force-closed together.
A big line with bars near zero is a large but balanced market, which is far calmer.
The line is Binance's total open-bet value in US dollars, taken as published. The bars are the eight-hourly fee: **green** when the rise-betters pay, **red** when the fall-betters pay.
The fee history goes back about three years but the open-bet line **only** starts in January 2026, because Binance keeps roughly 30 days and we have been storing it since then โ so the longest range shows a stretch with bars and no line. One exchange only.
